Description
With one-piece horn grip, the hooked pommel set with a coral and brass studs under the grip rivets, with a brass cross applied at the base. The guard elaborately modeled in baroque motifs with acanthus leaf quillon terminals. The massive European-style cavalry blade pattern welded, with a back fuller and radiused cutting tip, and inlaid at the right forte with a cross fourchee or Maltese cross within a circle. In its elaborately engraved brass scabbard with panels of dense foliate motifs interspersed with hatched sections within roped borders. 18th-19th century. Minor wear overall. Overall length 98.5cm./ 38 25/32 inches. Condition III
