Description
Wrought entirely of steel, the crescent head opposed by a massive hammer peen of octagonal form with stippled face, the whole heavily profiled overall. On its solid steel haft wrought with three spindle-form segments reminiscent of bones, with profiled beading between them, and fitted with a small pierced steel guard and ferrule, the original turned wooden grip terminating in a cupped and pierced steel plate. 16th-17th century. Well worn overall, pommel chipped. Overall length 55.7cm./ 21 59/64 inches. Condition IV
