AN ACHANG DHA SWORD
Description
Carried by the Achang, a Chinese ethnic group living in the Yunnan region. A large example, finely mounted in silver, the hilt with large, faceted, bud-form pommel, embossed bands and intricate rattan grip, the scabbard mounted en suite with applied Chinese characters. Very well-wrought single-edged and fullered blade with ogival tip and stamped motifs. Retains its woven sling. Latter19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 83.3cm./ 32 3/4 inches. Condition III
