Description
Mughal work of characteristic form, the steel hilt deeply chiseled with floral motifs and overlaid in silver, the blade with strong T back and raised chamfered edge with gold inlay panels at the forte on each side, tapering continuously to the tip and forged of fine black Persian wootz. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard. 18th – 19th century. Heavy wear to silver. Overall length 31cm/ 12 1/4 inches. Condition III
