Description
The carved hilt with pommel wrought as a fanciful and fully-modeled lionhead with well-detailed mane, gripping a pearl in its teeth; the grip faceted. The fine straight, single-edged blade forged of excellent black Persian wootz. Mid-19th century. Minor pitting. Overall length 27.5cm./ 10 ¾ inches. Condition III
