Description
Qajar Dynasty, of exceptional quality. The large hilt of characteristic form, carved of dark horn and set with scalloped steel bosses. The massive blade straight and double-edged, tapering to a slight armor-piercing tip, and wrought of fine black wootz, with a pair of gold-inlaid foliate cartouches at the forte and remains of a tree of life at the tip. Mid-19th century. Overall length 61cm./ 24 inches. Condition II
