AN AFGHAN LOHAR FOLDING AXE
Description
With forged steel head, the brass haft with file work, terminating in a handle with bone grips and horn pommel. 20th century. Light wear overall. The folding lohar was easily concealed yet quickly flicked open at need. It saw sustained use against British mounted units during the Afghan Wars. Overall length 34.5cm/ 13 5/8 inches. Condition II
