Description
The distinctive weapon of the Bicol region, the fine horn grip terminating in a characteristic bathead, clad entirely in profiled silver. the typical wrought steel guard with knucklebow and fluted guard, the characteristic blade lightly curved and deeply bellied at the tip, and engraved at the forte with scrollwork, together with the Catholic symbol of a sword piercing a heart, evoking the sorrow of the Virgin Mary. 19th century. Overall length 64.5cm./ 25 and 25/64 inches. Condition II
