Description
Mughal work, with symmetrical hilt of carved jade, the pommel in the form of a lotus set with three colored stones. The straight, double-edged blade bifullered and tapering continuously to an armor-piercing tip, with some pattern visible. With gold inlaid panel at either forte, terminating in three trefoils. In its velvet covered wooden scabbard with steel locket and chape inlaid in gold en suite with the forte. Retains a wax export seal inscribed BOMBAY. 19th century. Minor wear, velvet worn. Overall length 43cm./ 16 59/64. Condition III
