Description
An excellent example of characteristic form, the intricately-carved ebony grip with applied profiled and engraved silver mounts in elaborate scrollwork motifs. The gilded forte inlaid with silver and intricately profiled at the cutting edge en suite. The broad, single-edged blade inlaid for much of its surface with embossed and engraved silver. In its carved wooden scabbard with long copper locket. Latter 18th century. Blade with age toning, period repair to pommel. Overall length 30.8cm/ 12 1/8". Condition III
