Description
The brass hilt with recurved guard, lionhead pommel and backstrap with ribbed bone grip. The robust, curved, single-edged blade with narrow fuller to either side and struck lightly struck MOLE at the base of the spine and East India Company inspection mark E5 in an oval cartouche, dating it to 1855. In its leather scabbard with profiled brass mounts. The guard and locket with later India decommissioning stamps. Dated 1855. Minor pitting to blade, leather rubbed. Overall length 60cm./ 23 5/8 inches. Condition II
