Description
Of classic closed-hilt form, the grip retains its leather covering with small section of twisted copper wire intact at pommel. The closed hilt of steel with profiled backstrap and filework at the ecusson, with thumbring to the reverse. The long, well-wrought, curved and single-edged blade with pronounced yelman back-edge and radiused tip, with large makers mark in an oval cartouche. 17th century. Well worn, leather torn, guard and blade with areas of pitting, some corrosion. Overall length 89.5cm./ 35 15/64. Condition IV
