Circular, formed of hardened hide, and lacquered black with gilt naturalistic animals, including elephants, camels and tigers, the border depicting a grassy clearing with the god Surya represented at the center. With four profiled steel bosses. Retains cushion and grips to the reverse. First half of the 19th century. Minor wear, losses and rubbing to lacquer. Diameter 47.5cm./ 18 45/64 inches. Condition III
