Description
A rare type, of conical form with a narrow brim, composed of direct-riveted steel plates lacquered reddish-brown overall, with lugs and original chinstrap intact to the interior. Such helmets were typically worn only by samurais commanding musket companies which greatly impacted Japanese warfare in the 17th-19th centuries. 17th -18th century. Wear to lacquer. Height 13cm./5 1/8 inches. Condition III
