Description
The renowned rifle which saw use throughout India, Africa and the Middle East in the 19th century. Produced for the Arab market in carbine length, many were acquired through Muscat, bought and embellished in native style throughout the Middle East. Studded throughout in geometrical patterns with a prominent Ottoman crescent and star. Inscribed on the receiver in Arabic, MASHA’ALLAH (God’s blessing!) Marked at the breech, MARTINI MUSCAT. C. 1880. Well worn, losses to forearm, metal lightly pitted in isolated areas. Overall length 95.4cm./ 37 ½ inches. Condition III PERIOD PHOTO NOT INCLUDED
