Description
Moro People of Mindanao. A rare older example, possibly archaic. The grip intended for use in a single hand, the wooden grip with flared pommel and brass ferrule retained by two plaited rattan bands. The broad, curved single-edged blade with rectangular profiled tip. In its wooden scabbard carved overall in okir motifs with pierced suspension section and expanded tip terminating in profiled panels. 19th century. Worn, cracks to reverse of scabbard. Overall length 61.5cm./ 24 inches. Condition III
