Description
A rare type of classic form, likely Ottoman Court Workshop. The hardwood grips carved with chevrons and retained by silver rivets, the guard of silver, chiseled and engraved with touches of niello. Scabbard mounts of silver, chiseled and engraved en suite with the hilt, retaining a section of original leather between the suspension bands, wood lacking. The wootz blade of characteristic form, with pronounced back edge. Second half of the 17th century. Worn overall, Minor areas of pitting to blade, scabbard wood lacking. Overall length 85.1 cm / 33 ??. Condition IV
