Description
The deep cup well chiseled and pierced with bands of foliate work throughout and rolled and roped border, the long quillons and knucklebow wrenched, with domed bead terminals, the pommel en suite. Grip with original wire wrap and turkshead knots intact, the cup retaining its guarda polvo. The broad, double-edged tapering blade of flattened diamond section with central fuller. Mid-17th century. Minor wear, tip showing much sharpening. Overall length 106cm / 41 3/4". Condition III
