TWO RARE AFRICAN SHIELDS
Description
Luo People a Sudanic group which migrated to Kenya and Tanzania. Two examples, one large, one small, each of cowhide with the hair on, the wooden frame bound with rawhide and embellished with a double horn motif accomplished by cutting away the hair and infilling with white pigment. Early 20th century. Overall length of the larger 60cm./ 24 inches. Condition II
