A PAIR OF CHINESE HUDIE DAO SWORDS
Description
Qing Dynasty, with heavy, recurved brass guards and well-carved hardwood grips flattened on the interior. The broad, single-edged blades of thick section, tapering continuously to the radiused tips and showing laminar construction and hardened edges. In their hide scabbard with pierced coin motif. Latter 19th century. Minor wear, one sword with metal shim to pommel. Overall length 55.7cm./ 22 inches. Areas of pitting, scabbard well worn. Condition IV
