Description
Of characteristic form, the fine horn grips with rolled pommel, the silver tangband with engraving and Ottoman tughra stamp, the guard wrought of engraved brass. The long, curved, single-edged blade wrought of actively-grained and highly-contrasted Ottoman begumi wootz. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, brass mounts engraved en suite with the hilt. Late 18th-19th century. Overall length 93.7cm./37 ¾ inches. Condition II
