Description
A weapon and rank insignia for court officers, designed to subdue criminals or wrangle blades out of their hands. Wrought entirely of iron in characteristic form, the grip modeled as a sword hilt, the arched blade supported by a robust hook, each ending in a point. Grip retains its woven wrap. 19th century. Overall length 47.3cm./ 18 5/8 inches. Condition III
