Description
A massive example, the grip carved of a single section of dark horn, the curved, double-edged blade forged of black wootz with an exceptionally high central ridge, terminating in an armor-piercing tip and inlaid in gold at the forte. In its wooden scabbard retaining the original embroidered covering, the steel mounts elaborately inlaid in silver vinework overall. Mid-19th century. Overall length 56.5cm./ 22 ¼ inches. Condition II
