A rare form, displaying design characteristics derived from both Central Asian sabers and the Cossack shashka. The horn grips with characteristic pommel and steel bolster, the heavy, single-edged blade with long yelman back edge. In its tooled leather-covered wooden scabbard with steel mounts. Second half of the 19th century. Leather well worn. Overall length 99.5 cm, 39 and 11/64 inches. Condition II
