Description
Visayan work, with characteristic octagonal horn grip, the pommel a finely carved demon elaborately mounted in profiled silver plaques with silver ferrule and horn guard with dentated silver cover. The massive blade straight, with broad spine, deeply bellied, with chisel edge. In its wooden scabbard covered in panels of translucent shell, the pierced leather locket with original red fabric backing. Mid-19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 70cm./ 27 ½ inches. Condition II
