Description
Istanbul work, a large example. Grips carved of a figured bone, the tangband and bolster intricately engraved and heavily gilded, the blade of characteristic form, single-edged and T-backed with slight belly, and wrought of Turkish wootz single-edged, with a raised panel at either forte, that on the left elaborately inlaid with gold. In its green leather-covered scabbard with elegant brass mounts. Latter 18th century. Slight wear. Overall length 41.5 cm / 16 3/8 inches. Condition II
