Description
Mughal work, the grips with fine age patina, the wootz steel tangband with gold inscriptions, the bolsters inlaid in gold vinework. The elegant recurved, T-backed blade with raised, chamfered edge, wrought of very fine Persian black wootz, with raised gold inlaid panel at the forte to either side, the spine intricately chiseled at the base with a fine rib continuing to the tip. In its tooled leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, finely embossed and engraved silver mounts. 18th century. Overall length 39.1cm./ 15 25/64 inches. Condition II
