Description
With massive horn grips of Balkan form, the elaborate silver tangband and bolsters modeled in geometrical motifs. The broad, single-edged recurved blade with narrow back fuller and inlaid silver panels to either side, the calligraphy quite work but WORK OF and MEHMET are legible. The wooden scabbard with narrow velvet panel and woven cord to the center, and massive embossed and engraved silver mounts, the chape with characteristic dolphin finial. 19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 75.4cm./ 29 ¾ inches. Condition II
