Description
Of the type which saw use following the American Revolution, with elaborate brass guard, with faceted knucklebow and profiled bone grip with distinctive eaglehead pommel. The broad, curved, single-edged blade with a broad fuller to either side, and etched and gilded stands of arms and vinework to each side. In its fragmentary brass-mounted leather scabbard. Early 19th century. Blade with areas of darkening and pitting, scabbard lacking lower half. Overall length 92.4cm./ 36 ½ inches. Condition IV
