Description
Probably Spanish, the broad quillons terminating in expanded beads, with tapered pommel. Wooden grip. The straight, double-edged blade with of flattened diamond section with a deep filler at either forte struck, TOMASO AYALA on one side and EN TOLEDO on the other. 17th century. The blade likely made by an Italian smith using the name of the famed Spanish maker. Age-toned overall, minor pitting, grip wrap lacking, guard slightly loose. Overall length 44.2 cm/ 17 1/4 inches. Condition III
