Description
Carved of a short section of cow horn and elaborately painted overall with a portrait of Napoleon in Egypt, a saber in his right hand and his left hand upraised, index finger extended, with sand, palm trees and pyramids in the background. The reverse with a large laurel wreath with the head of a pharaoh in profile and surmounted by a star, the whole with scalloped borders in red and black. With brass cap, spout and base with dashed borders, the base likewise engraved with a large laurel wreath surmounted by a star and engraved with PATRIE, a capital N, and 1812. 1812 or later. Minor wear, chips, areas of patina to brass. Overall height 9cm. Condition III
