A rare example, the faceted hardwood hilt of characteristic form with stitched leather covering intact and brass guard. The single-edged blade straight, broad, and thick, with radiused tip, showing layered hand-forging and complex temperline along the edge. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with red-lacquered throat and brass tip. 18th century. Minor wear and losses. Overall length 72cm/ 28 3/8 inches. Condition II
