Description
A superior example, the stock elaborately carved in vine motifs, with filigreed and nielloed silver plaques covering the stock from breech to silver and nielloed buttcap. With filigreed silver side plate and profiled steel triggerguard, with long barrel sleeve of embossed and chased silver. The fine flintlock mechanism and barrel en suite with engraved motifs, the barrel with struck makers marks at the left breech. In its fine red leather holster with green leather borders, set with numerous silver appliques and a pouch for black powder cartridges. The reverse with suspension loop and securing ring. C. 1725-1750. Slight wear, suspension loop torn, leather scuffed. Overall length 50cm/19 ¾ inches. Condition II
