Description
The actively grained maple stock of characteristic form with eponymous six-sided butt, finely inlaid with profiled and engraved silver plaques over the butt and breech. The miquelet lock with profiling and elaborate silver inlay with faint signature. The heavy, octagonal barrel forged of fine twistcore damascus steel and inlaid in complex foliate designs at the breech and muzzle in silver, with worn makers mark in gold at the breech. Retained to the stock by engraved silver bands. Retains its ramrod. C. 1750-1800. Minor wear, small chip to forearm tip, on bolt screw lacking. Overall length 141 cm / 55.5 inches. Condition III
