AUCTIONS IMPERIAL 2025 NOVEMBER
Lot 232:
Description
An earlier example of the type. The pommel and grip wrought entirely of embossed and filigreed silver, the well-wrought steel guard with expanded quillon terminals. The fine, double-edged blade with pronounced central fuller for its entire length on either side, retaining some original edge. In its fragmentary stamped leather scabbard. Mid-19th century or earlier. Minor wear to sword, scabbard as found. The hilt shows the slight offset typically found on early Arab swords, suggesting it was used in a particular orientation, despite its symmetrical form. Overall length 105.6cm/ 41 5/8 inches. Sword Condition II
