The large Indian basket hilt with backspike, the grip with original leather wrap. The massive blade well-wrought, and appears to show traces of wootz forging, expanding continuously and terminating in an ogival tip. Mounted to the hilt by an elaborately pierced and profiled seating process. In its modeled leather-covered wooden scabbard. 17th-18th century. Minor wear. Overall length 87.4cm/ 34 3/8 inches. Condition III
