Description
The distinctive hilt forged with three drooping quillons and an angular knucklebow, each with bead finial, the massive horn grip with scrolled pommel with engraved brass pommel plate and ferrule. The long, broad, lightly-curved German blade etched with moon, sun and stars at either forte. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, elaborately engraved brass mounts. Retains its tasseled silk baldric. Mid-19th century. Minor wear, leather rubbed. Overall length 96.5cm/ 38 inches. Condition III
