Description
An elegant rendering of the well-known for, likely Epirot workmanship. The slender horn grips terminating in an angular form of the characteristic Ottoman pommel. The silver guard with spherical terminals. The fine, long blade lightly-curved and double-fullered, with subtle yelman and false edge, and radiused tip. Struck at the forte with pseudo-Latinate characters often used by Ottoman workshops. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with wire seam, and large silver mounts. First half of the 19th century. Light wear, minor repair to pommel. Overall length 95.8cm/ 37 5/8 inches. Condition III
