Description
Early-mid Safavid era, an original, uncut hauberk reaching to the calves, composed of rings of differing diameter and thickness, with the largest and heaviest wrought at crucial points, maximizing the protection-to-weight ratio. Each ring riveted, many both riveted and welded as is typical of this type. The short neck opening with collar, long sleeves terminating in points, and the long skirt with peaked vent in the front and square at the rear in order to facilitate mounting and comfortable seating on horseback C. 1575-1625. Minor repairs. Overall length 109cm/ 44 7/8 inches. Condition II
