Description
A rare form found in Eastern Anatolia and the Transcaucasus. The horn grips arched and expanded at the pommel. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with wire seam and large brass mounts, finely engraved in scrolling vinework with dragonhead finial. The blade deeply recurved and bellied, with multiple fullers and complex punched motifs along the spine, inscribed WORK OF ALI. Mid-19th century. Overall length 62.7cm/24 ¾ inches. Minor wear to leather. Condition III
