Description
Work of the Bicol region, the blade of characteristic Minasbad form, thick at the forte, lightly curved and terminating in an expanded, cutting tip. Though diminutive, a very effective and well-made weapon. With a very rare, possibly unique, horn hilt, the grip faceted, the pommel carved as a fully-modeled horse head with brass eyes and bolster. In its leather-covered wooden sheath. 19th century. Slight chip and crack to pommel, blade with areas of slight pitting, scabbard leather well worn. Overall length 53.8cm/ 21 ¼ inches. Condition III
