Description
The wooden hilt with cord-wrapped grip and silver bands, the flared banati wood horse’s hoof pommel elaborately carved and inlaid with mother of pearl panels likewise carved. The unusual blade made without a gangya and of distinctly archaic form, double-edged and partially waved. In its rattan-wrapped wooden scabbard with throat and tip finely carved with set with okir motifs. 20th century. Loss to scabbard throat and sharpening marks to blade. Overall length 80.5cm./ 31 3/4 inches. Condition III
