Description
With junggayan hilt typically carried by a datu or noble, the elephant kakatua-form pommel and coir wrap, the silver mounts with beaded borders. The finely wrought archaic blade with separate gangya retained by its original pair of silver baca-baca, well fullered and wrought with a broad central panel of dramatic twistcore damascus steel. In its figured wooden scabbard with carved throat and antler cap. Mid-19th century or earlier. Minor wear, old repair to pommel beak. Overall length 66.5cm/ 26 3/8 inches. Condition II
