Description
A complete tanto, comprising blade, koshirae, shirasaya mounts and cloth bag. With white same grip and shakudo mounts embellished with gold, the fuchi signed, the kodzuka with same panel and signed kokatana, and silver catscratch habaki, the saya finished in shell and lacquer mosaic. The blade of tanto yoroidoshi form, intended for armor-piercing. Blade in very good polish with sugu temperline and very active hada. Signed by and papered to FUJIWARA JUMYO SAKU, Shinshinto era. Late 18th-early 19th century. Scabbard rubbed. Overall length 43.6cm/ 17 3/16 inches, nagasa 26.6cm/ 10 1/2 inches. Condition
