Description
Edo era, a fine example of the type, which emulates the cap worn by nobility at court. The three-plate skull with circular gold mon and deeply textured black lacquer overlaid with gold, the steel shikoro of five plates with rounded fukurin, lacquered black, signed in red, and bound with white and blue lacing, the lowest plate en suite with the skull. 17th-18th century. Minor wear, slight rubbing and losses to lacquer. Overall height 41cm/ 16 inches. Condition II
