The wooden grip with two retaining pins and scabbard with brass mounts, the scabbard inscribed with quotations from Sun Tze, The Art Of War, including, ATTACK THE ENEMY WHEN THEY ARE LEAST PREPARED – LURE THEM WITH PROFIT – TAKE THEM WHEN THEY ARE IN CHAOS – PREPARE FOR THEM WHEN THEY ARE STRONG – FRUSTRATE THEM WHEN THEY ARE ANGRY ? MAKE THEM ARROGANT WHEN THEY ARE HUMBLE ? MAKE THEM TIRED WHEN THEY ARE IDLE ? SEPARATE THEM WHEN THEY ARE CLOSE! Mid-20th century. Minor wear, rubbing and scratches.
