Description
Finely made, the hilt with stepped, ovoid pommel, the guard with drooping quillons angled outward, the grip with original slightly-raveled twisted wire wrap. The characteristically broad, double-edged blade tapering continuously to the tip, and etched for much of its surface with fine Mannerist decorative motifs, including a crowned escutcheon with eagle displayed on an ermine field. First quarter of the 19th century. Overall length 45.6 cm./ 19 inches. Condition III
