Northern Indian work, the silvered hilt with pommel in the form of a fully-modelled elephant head with rotating ferrule to lock the shaft. The straight, single-edged blade with gold inlaid vinework panel. In its silvered shaft. 20th century. Rubbed, haft possibly replaced. Overall length 83cm./ 32 11/16 inches.
