Description
A fine and rare interpretation of the well-known Ottoman weapon, likely produced for presentation. The grips of horn set with silver bosses and bands to either side. The massive blade quite broad and single-edged, with drop tip, the first half blued and etched with man in the moon and an arm extending from a cloud wielding a saber interspersed with stars together with stands of arms, all gilt. Late 18th-early 19th century. One boss lacking, bluing and gilding well worn. Overall length 69.4cm./ 27 5/8 inches. Condition IV
