Mughal work, the hilt wrought of fine, actively-grained wootz with heavy gold inlay overall, the grips with flowering vinework likewise in fine gold. The massive blade with finely contrasted black wootz central panel and original high polish finish to the edges, with armor-piercing tip. First half of the 18th century. Slight wear to gold. Overall length 41.8cm./ 16 ? inches. Condition II
